My Internship Experience at MAGIC Bodyfashion - Femke

A year and a half year ago today, I started my very first internship at MAGIC Bodyfashion. At that time I was in my 3^rd year for my studies Fashion & Textile Technologies at Saxion University in Enschede. I remember being nervous for my first day. This was going to be my first encounter with the fashion and textile industry as being a real part of it. This nervousness went away quickly as I was very well received in the Product & Media department as Product and Media Intern. I quickly felt a part of the team.

The thing that I remember the most of my time as intern at MAGIC Bodyfashion is that my opinion was very welcome. I was asked to be part of the product development meetings where we discussed new product ideas and improvements. Also, I was part of a team for the development of a new website. Some other tasks that I was responsible for were: preparing meetings, presentations and fairs, measuring and preparing samples, working on the website and a lot more! The 5 months of my internship flew by and I learned a lot of new things, on a professional and personal level, which I got to use in work and life.

Because of a little setback during my studies, I got delayed half a year. Luckily, I got to stay at MAGIC Bodyfashion during this time to work as Product & Marketing assistant over the summer. During this period, I heard our Sales Analyst was also looking for an intern. I was graduating that year after summer and needed to do another internship, so I realized this could be a good opportunity for me. This is how I started as a Sales Analyst intern last year in September. During this period I combined an internship with writing a thesis. While that was a challenge, I really enjoyed learning about sales analysis, so much in fact that it sometimes got in the way of writing my thesis (whoops..!).

I learned so much during my internship as a Sales Analyst! When I started the internship, I hardly knew anything about Excel but I can (almost) call myself an Excel expert now. During my internship we worked on sales analysis to measure the sell-through of our products at different points of sale. While writing my thesis, I worked on improving our way of sales analysis and dove into the world of Business Intelligence. I was super glad my thesis was very well received not only at Saxion but also at MAGIC Bodyfashion and I can proudly say that I received my Bachelor of Science last month.

So, one and a half year, two internships and a bachelor thesis later I still love working here. I just started working in yet another department at MAGIC Bodyfashion. I’m super excited to get the opportunity to keep working, learning and improving myself. I can say that MAGIC Bodyfashion is a great place to do an internship where they give you the opportunity and responsibility to learn and grow as a professional within the industry.
